Big hearted business owners in Ruddington have given nine local nurses a Christmas gift they won’t forget – a hamper filled with festive goodies from over a dozen of our village shops.
The idea came about in early December when Cheryl Stretton of Ruddy Fine Gin and Alex Preston of The Bottle Top found out about a district nursing team who’ve been working tirelessly to look after Ruddington residents in their homes throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. They decided to see if any village shops might like to contribute to a hamper for them. No less than thirteen of them said “yes”!
The thoughtful Christmas Box was then filled with items from Artisan Hair, Aveda Salon, BritMask, The Bottle Top, Elms Farm, The Frame Breakers, Honeycomb Christian Charity Shop, Philo’s Deli, The Ruddington Arms, Ruddington Post Office, Ruddy Fine Gin, The White Horse and Zing Interiors before it was handed over.
Nurse Jody Fletcher, pictured right picking up the hamper from The Bottle Top today (Christmas Eve), was grateful and surprised to receive all the traders’ contributions on behalf of the nurses: “We have been seeing patients throughout this pandemic face to face in their own homes” she said. “These are generous gifts for our team to celebrate over the festive period, as we are all working still.”
Andy Hunt of The White Horse commented: “It’s highlighted people who go unnoticed normally – a very deserving team!”
